Treatment process
Veterinary consent
It is our legal duty to gain permission from your vet before the initial consultation and treatment of your animal can occur. We are happy to contact your vet on your behalf once you have provided us with your vet’s details, alternatively you can contact your vet directly using the form below.

Case history
In the initial consultation, we will ask for any relevant medical history regarding your animal’s health and we may ask for some information prior to the appointment.

Biomechanical assessment and examination
This will involve observing the animal standing, to assess its conformation and identify any visible signs of discomfort or abnormal posture followed by a walk and trot up to detect any lameness, irregular gait, or other movement abnormalities. This helps gain an understanding of how the animal moves and functions as a whole. Regarding horses, we may ask the handler to lunge the horse or potentially see the horse being ridden where necessary. We will then begin hands on assessment which requires a thorough palpation of soft tissues and joints to detect any areas of tension, swelling or pain and feeling the quality and quantity of movement available at each joint to further understand what may be the source of pain or dysfunction in your animal.

Treatment
After completing a thorough examination of the animal, we will perform the appropriate osteopathic techniques, targeting the identified areas of dysfunction or pain, each treatment process being specifically tailored to your animal. Techniques may include soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilization, and other osteopathic methods to relieve pain, improve mobility, and enhance overall function.

Exercises and advice
We will discuss with you the necessary aftercare following treatment and any exercises/stretches to support your animals’ recovery and to maintain the benefits of treatment.
